There are a great number of people – “real” scientists included – who strongly believe that what you eat has a big influence on the gender of the baby you conceive. So if you are thinking pink and really would prefer to conceive a girl rather than a boy, what tweaks should you be making to your daily diet?

Lots more calcium – Getting more calcium is a good idea for any woman, whether they are trying to get pregnant or not. But it is believed that if you are trying to conceive a girl that calcium intake should go way up. That means more milk, more cheese and more yogurt.

Less salt – It is said that eating a great many salty foods will result in a boy baby, so if you would prefer a girl then the salty snacks are going to have to go (or at least be cut down on significantly.). That may be tough if you love potato chips and salty crackers but there are alternatives like rice cakes, which are tastier than they look.

No caffeine – Caffeine, say gender choosing experts, is another big no no for those trying to figure out how to conceive a girl.  This certainly means switching to a decaffeinated morning brew and also cutting back on the soda intake dramatically. One can of Mountain Dew has almost much caffeine as a strong cup of coffee so if you want to conceive a girl you might want to find a no caffeine alternative (7-up has none, neither does Mug Root beer so in moderation they are OK).
